Where the names come from

The names come from the list of identified victims in Gaza published by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, as compiled and transliterated into English by Airwars: airwars.org/moh-list. Each record shows the name in Arabic, its English transliteration and, where known, the person's age.

The list is not the full toll. The Ministry of Health includes only people whose identity it was able to verify, so the number of names here is lower than the total number of Palestinians killed in Gaza.

For Know Their Names, the list was downloaded from Airwars on 8 October 2026.

How it works

Know Their Names is cycling through a list of names, showing each for a few seconds. When you tap See the names, you join at the name being shown at this moment, not at the first name in the list. Everyone sees the same name at the same time.
